A 5th Generation Missourian and Family Man

First and foremost, Tom is a Missourian and a family man. His great, great grandfather settled in Missouri before the Civil War, opening the Julius S. Schweich Furniture store at 6th and Market Street in St. Louis. Tom comes from five generations of Missouri small business owners and professionals. He has been married for 21 years to Kathy Schweich, and they have two children, Emilie and Thomas, Jr.

Experienced Auditor

Schweich oversaw internal investigations and audits for many of Missouri’s largest companies, and managed audits of hundreds of millions in taxpayer dollars at the U.S. State Department. Tom continues to lead the MO State Auditor's office with experience, independence and tenacity.
Federal Investigator

Tom served as a federal prosecutor and Chief of Staff of the Waco investigation - considered one of the highest-profile federal investigations in U.S. history. A proven investigator, Schweich knows how to find and eliminate corruption in government.
U.S. Ambassador

Managing 4,000 people in over 40 countries with a budget of more than $2.5 billion at the U.S. State Department, Schweich has proven that he will be an expert manager of the Auditor Office. As a former U.S. Ambassador in Afghanistan, he has further demonstrated leadership and management abilities.
