The Missouri State Auditor
Since taking office in January 2011, Tom Schweich continues to lead the MO State Auditor’s office with the experience, independence and tenacity he promised Missouri voters on the campaign trail. His new initiatives like the rapid response program, audit follow-ups, a grading system and the citizen’s summary have been extremely well received by Missouri taxpayers and the media. The rapid response program provides swift investigation of serious allegations of fraud, waste or abuse, while the follow-up program, will ensure audit recommendations are implemented in a timely manner. For the first time ever, audit reports include a grade (excellent, good, fair and poor),providing clear, simple insight into the overall condition of the auditee. The citizen’s summary is a single page at the beginning of each audit which summarizes, in plain English, major findings for taxpayers.
