Calling it ineffective and a clear violation of the Afghan Constitution in a recent interview, Tom Schweich blasted the Obama administration for their too-soft stance on the poppy production in Afghanistan.

From 2007 – 2008 Schweich was the Coordinator for Counternarcotics and Justice Reform in Afghanistan. Schweich’s focus on eradication led to strong gains in the fight against illicit poppy cultivation. Despite the success of these policies, the Obama administration chose to adopt different strategy.
