Monday, September 13, 2010: Today,  the Schweich for Auditor campaign today announced that three former Missouri State Auditors have officially endorsed Tom’s candidacy.  The campaign is pleased to add the endorsements of retiring Senator and former Missouri State Auditor Kit Bond, and former State Auditor Margaret Kelly.Attorney General John Ashcroft endorsed Schweich in April, stating, “As a former law enforcement official and Missouri State Auditor, today I join Gov. Mitt Romney, Amb. John Bolton, Lt. Gov. Peter Kinder, Sen. Jack Danforth and so many others in endorsing Tom Schweich to be Missouri’s next State Auditor. Tom has the investigative, audit, legal and management experience for the job.”

In their own statements, both Sen. Bond and the Honorable Mrs. Kelly highlighted Schweich’s years of public service and experience working to root out fraud, waste, abuse, and corruption.

Senator Bond stated, “As a former Auditor, I support Tom Schweich. Tom has made a career rooting out waste and corruption at places as difficult as the United Nations and Afghanistan. In tough financial times, Missourians need an aggressive and independent taxpayer watchdog like Tom Schweich working to protect our precious tax dollars in Jefferson City.”

Margaret Kelly echoed the Senator’s statements in her endorsement, stating, “As a CPA and former State Auditor, I believe Tom’s unique qualifications and extensive background conducting audits and investigations make him the ideal candidate to be the next watchdog for Missouri Taxpayers. Tom’s experience will enable him to bring back needed accountability to state government, ensuring our tax dollars are spent wisely.”
