On December 30th, Auditor Schweich released his 2011 Annual Report. Since taking office in January of 2011, Auditor Schweich reduced the Auditor’s office budget to the lowest rate since 2004. The state auditor does financial audits on Missouri’s state run agencies such as government offices, universities and school districts. The State Auditor also prepares fiscal notes that can be used to initiate petitions for constitutional change which deal with tax jurisdiction and the tax rate.
